On Earth Day, T2EARTH® Unveils OnWood® Plywood

An Eco-Friendly, Superior-Strength, Fire-Retardant Building Material Engineered Without Toxic Chemicals

AUGUSTA, Ga. — In honor of Earth Day, T2EARTH® proudly reaffirms its commitment to environmental stewardship and climate-readiness with the launch of OnWood® Plywood—a next-generation, fire-retardant treated wood (FRTW) product engineered for superior strength, safety, and sustainability. Combined with our OnWood® Dimensional Lumber, T2EARTH® stands ready to meet the demands of a new era of fire-retardant “hardened homes.”

Earth Day serves as a global call to protect our planet. At T2EARTH®, that call is answered by reimagining building materials that not only enhance safety and performance but also support healthier ecosystems and a low-carbon future. The debut of OnWood® Plywood reflects this vision—delivering superior strength, Class A Fire Retardancy, non-toxic chemistry, and a termite/mold barrier backed by third-party certifications from the International Code Council Evaluation Service (ICC-ES).

A New Standard in Eco-Friendly, Superior Strength Building for Fire-Prone Environments

As wildfire risks grow across North America and scrutiny intensifies around chemical-treated FRTW solutions, the demand for high-performance, climate-adaptive materials is more urgent than ever. OnWood® Plywood rises to that challenge—setting a new industry standard with a unique combination of durability, safety, and sustainability:

Unmatched Mechanical Strength: Developed by T2EARTH®’s R&D and engineering teams, OnWood® is a leading eco-friendly FRTW plywood that outperforms traditional toxic chemical treated FRTW plywood—offering an average range of 19% to 91% higher maximum total loads for roof sheathing across the three primary plywood thicknesses, 1/2″, 5/8″ and 3/4″. Designed for demanding framing applications and fire-prone environments.

Class A Fire Retardant: Third-party tested by the ICC-ES, OnWood® Plywood is Class A rated and independently tested to ASTM E84 and ASTM 2768 methods, with Flame Spread and Smoke Development scores of 10—ideal for wildland-urban interface zones and high-risk structures.

Termite and Mold Barrier: Certified under ESL 1640, OnWood® demonstrates barrier protection to termites (AWPA E1-23 testing method) and mold (AWPA E24-21 testing method), extending durability in both residential and commercial applications, particularly in humid or moisture-exposed regions.

30-Year Limited Warranty: Every OnWood® product is backed by a 30-year customer warranty, reflecting our confidence in its performance, durability, and protection over time.

Sustainability by Design: Manufactured using wood sourced from FSC®/SFI® and other comparable forests, OnWood® supports responsible forestry and carbon-conscious construction.

Non-Toxic by Design: Unlike traditional FRTW made with toxic chemicals, OnWood® is free of harsh chemicals, formaldehyde, and halogens. It’s safe for builders, occupants, firefighters, and ecosystems.

Proudly Made in the USA: OnWood® is manufactured domestically in the State of Georgia and in the heart of the Southern Pine Region, using T2EARTH®’s proprietary eco-treatment process, minimizing carbon impact through localized supply chains and production while supporting American jobs in the sustainable building sector.

Available in Signature Cabernet Tint: A visual representation of T2EARTH®’s commitment to both performance and sustainability.

Certified to Perform: ICC-ESR 4627 and ESL 1640

OnWood® Plywood is certified under ICC-ESR 4627, a trusted and rigorous evaluation report issued by the International Code Council Evaluation Service (ICC-ES), the building industry’s premier certification body for code compliance. This certification confirms OnWood® meets critical standards for strength, fire retardancy, and building code requirements in jurisdictions across North America.

In addition, the ESL 1640 report verifies OnWood®’s performance as a termite and mold barrier—highlighting its protection to termites and mold growth, making it a top-tier solution for long-lasting protection in challenging environments.

A Strategic Shift for Climate-Conscious Builders

OnWood® Plywood is now available in 4’x8′ panels in standard thicknesses (1/2″, 5/8″, 3/4″), serving both residential and commercial needs. Rated sheathing and underlayment options provide flexible use across interior applications, especially where strength and fire-retardancy are essential.

“As we reflect on the mission of Earth Day, our focus is clear—”helping communities across the USA build a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future,” said Joel Kier, Co-Founder and CEO of T2EARTH®. “OnWood® Plywood represents a bold step forward: a product that combines superior strength with outstanding fire retardancy and environmental values.”
